Closing Ceremony: Quiet Splendor: Yup'ik Eskimo Culture
Chuna McIntyre returned on November 19, 2006 for a spirtual performance and gallery walk-through to close the exhibition "Quiet Splendor: Yup'ik Eskimo Culture." In the audience were members of the KVU Panpipe and Dance Company from Santa Isabel, Solomon Islands who were on a statewide tour and they treated gallery visitors with a rousing impromptu mini-set.

Thai Sala (pavilion) Reconstruction
A new Thai sala (pavilion) has been donated to the East-West Center by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. It replaces an older sala, bestowed in 1967. Construction was completed in October 2006.

Gagaku: Japanese Court Music and Dance
Students from Campbell High, Waianae Intermediate, and Waldorf Academy had a rare opportunity to experience gagaku, a twelve hundred year old tradition of Japanese court music and dance. The performance was held on Monday, September 18, 2006, at the Imin Center-Jefferson Hall.

Quiet Splendor: Yup`ik Eskimo Culture
On Sunday, September 10, 2006, Gallery visitors were honored with a performance of Yup`ik traditional dance by Chuna McIntyre and drummer Vernon Chimegalrea.

On Tuesday, September 12, 2006, there was a sharing of cultures as Chuna McIntyre and Vernon Chimegalrea performed for students from the Halau Ku Mana New Century Public Charter School. In turn, the students preformed an oli and hula to honor the guest artists.
